| Ah, the Tokyo Marui SR16, surely one of the finest masterpieces from Tokyo Marui and certainly one of the coolest guns in the realm of airsoft. This black beauty is a wonder to use and upgrade and I have fallen in love with it. It’s RIS system allows easy mounting of grips, lasers flashlighs and grenade launchers and its solid M16A2 style stock allows you to keep a large battey to crank those high end upgrades or keep the stock one turning all day. The thing that really used to appeal about the SR16 is that its receiver is a matte black as opposed to the grey M4/M16 receivers which are only recently being phased out by the new black ones such as that on the M4 redux. The white trademarks are actually an off-white and look different to the Classic army ones. As I said before, the gun is very black and is all finished in the same shade. My words can do this gun no justice, nor can pictures as it is in my opinion one of the most attractive guns around. In combat, it surely is one hell of a piece. With its vertical foregrip installed, target acquisition is a snap and is surely one of the easiest rifles to aim. The flip up site is not the simplest of things but makes things a bit less cumbersome. The weaver rail attop the receiver can allow the mounting of various scopes and aiming apparatus. |
The large battery means you can literally shoot all day without changing batts. However, some people feel the solid stock makes the gun look out of proportion, but with the addition of a few accessories can easily remedy this. The metal RIS makes the gun a bit front heavy and off balance but this is the price you pay for the ability to mount accessories so simply. This gun is simply a pleasure to work on. Being Marui, the fit and finish of the parts makes disassembly and upgrades so easy. Infact, this is the gun I learned all my airsmithing techniques with. The reliable and easy to work with V2 probably has more parts made for it than any other mechbox considering the Marui M4 is the most popular gun in Japan now and probably the world. Being in the M16 series is obviously a plus too. The possibilities are endless with this gun. |
