LBV-88 de Jim "Kurz" Nesbitt |
|
| + PLUS - Cheap, dirty deeds done cheap - Fairly comfortable - Wide range of adjustability - Comes in woodland generally - Keeps you cooler in the summer than most other vests |
- MINUS - Not very big on storage space - Not as many features as other vests - Not particularly attractive as many other vests |

The LBV-88 is probably one of the most ubiquitous vests available for airsoft. This is probably because of its rather low price and the fact that knockoffs come in by the boatload from China for as low as $25. Less expensive than a full ALICE set makes this vest quite the winner in my opinion. It comes in black or woodland. Fairly comfortable to wear, more so than a full ALICE pack which digs into your shoulders and hips at full weight. This is because of more weight distribution across the chest and shoulders. Designed to take the ALICE web belt so you can also sport a holster with this rig. It may not look like it but the pouches do indeed have quite a high capacity. As long as you don’t take everything with you such as tools or silicone, there is plenty of room for BBs, gas, mags, etc. It can hold about 6 M16 mags, about 8 MP5 mags and maybe 6 AK47 mags. I haven’t tried with G3. |
As there aren’t any serious airsoft grenades at the time of writing this review, the two grenade pouches can be used to put your nuts in I suppose, or perhaps BBs in a bag. Also, the LBV-88 is quite adjustable as it can accommodate thin and fat, tall and short. The only issue I have with it is the far right pouch as it sometimes gets in the way when I shoulder a gun. One thing to make note of is that it can keep you cooler when you wear it compared to most MOLLE or replica armour vest. Overall, its low price makes it an ideal entry level vest as it has quite a lot of bang for the buck. |
